Home Pages

homepages.pdf

Includes 3 wireframe variations for the RSL home page. The first two are based two sites that the IA group reviewed (UCSF and University of Arizona) and elements that the IA group determined needed to be on the home page. The third variation is a hybrid taking elements from each, organizing elements and presenting them in a way that is likely to be the most useful and clear to users.

Get Help

gethelp2.pdf

This section provides audience-based support (student, faculty, and alumni) as well as citation information and listing all of the tutorials used throughout the site. It also provides 2 examples of an interior page, one which repeats the navigation within the main content pane, and one that does not. We had initially found some benefit to sites that repeat navigation within the page but wireframes show that repeating the navigation is likely to lead to confusion and waste useful space. Including photos of students using the library is one form of outreach demonstrating to students that people like them are using the facility and provides more color and a point of interest to the pages.

About Us

Information on how to use the library and its resources. It also provides 2 examples of an interior page, one which repeats the navigation within the main content pane, and one that does not. We had initially found some benefit to sites that repeat navigation within the page but wireframes show that repeating the navigation is likely to lead to confusion and waste useful space. Ask a Librarian

askalibrarian.pdf

Lists all of the ways to contact a librarian. Icons show which services are only during a limited timeframe. Hovering over an icon displays what hours that service is available.

Databases

databases.pdf

Examples of all types of database pages. The main databases page provides users with the ability to find a database using a title search, alphabetical browsing, or to browse by subject. In both alphabetical and subject listings of databases, we will provide a brief table of results. The db name will link directly into the database. Each database will have a 1-2 sentence, clear description. We will note if a given database is already searched by any instance of supersearch, provide a link to more detailed information on a database and a link to a tutorial, if available. The detail view of a database provides users with a longer description of the resource, an explanation of what uses the db is most relevant for and what versions of SuperSearch utilize the database.

Journals

journals.pdf

Provides users with the ability to find a journal by title search, browsing alphabetically, and browsing by subject. All users will be sent to atoz listing once they select their method of searching/browsing.
